Panasonic Celebrates 100th Anniversary

March 20, 2018 Press Release
100th aniiversary Panasonic

Panasonic Corporation is celebrating its 100th Anniversary this year. Konosuke Matsushita founded Panasonic on 7 March 1918, the same year in which the company introduced an improved attachment plug. This was followed by the next product, a double cluster socket that enabled the powering of lights and appliances from a single source. Nowadays, his innovations may appear small; however, back then, these electronic products provided a new level of comfort. Matsushita’s vision of how electronic appliances could improve consumers’ lives proved to be correct. Within 100 years, Panasonic has evolved into one of the world’s leading electronics manufacturers.

Johannes Spatz, President of Panasonic Industry Europe: “Since the very beginning of Panasonic, we’ve addressed society’s needs and developed new technologies, thus enabling people to lead better and more comfortable lives. Our approach to product development has not changed. Technology will continue to evolve and we will continue to support new industry trends as a trusted partner to our customers.”

Moving Towards the New Technology Revolution

Looking to the future, Panasonic has identified two areas of constant advancement and fundamental change. Firstly, the electrification of all aspects of our lives, starting with our homes, workplaces, factories and vehicles, which will have a growing impact on every aspect of life and society. Secondly, Panasonic supports ongoing developments in the field of mobility as another game changer for the society of tomorrow.

Mr. Spatz added: “The product development is becoming increasingly faster and we will see more innovations in the next 10 years than we have over the last 100 years. Electrification, connectivity and automatization will drive this revolution. We can help our customers partake in this revolution, by supporting the development of their products and solutions through the use of combined industry expertise.”
