Sree Durbha heads up the Smart Connected Business at Marvell Semiconductor Inc. In his role, Sree manages an enterprising team that helps create connectivity products and solutions that solve customers’ most pressing problems in the industrial, enterprise, smart cities and smart home categories. Prior to joining Marvell, Sree cofounded and ran his outdoor fixed wireless startup, Meshrocket to bring gigabit internet to the masses. In his two decades in the industry, Sree has held leadership roles at Qualcomm Atheros and Intel, helping launch products as diverse as the world’s first 1GHz microprocessor for mobile computing to the world’s first tri-band wireless combo solution for wireless docking applications. Sree enjoys playing basketball, cooking, traveling and spending time with his family. Sree has a master’s degree in electrical engineering and earned an MBA in finance and entrepreneurship from UCLA Anderson School of Management.

Sven Hegner has more than 18 years of experience in the semiconductor industry, ranging from IC development, business development and standardisation to technical marketing. Since five years he has been focusing on developing MCU and Bluetooth based solutions for innovative markets like wearable devices, smart home and smart building. Sven is the chief engineer responsible for smart home, building automation and energy management systems at Toshiba.

Bluetooth 5 SoC and module solutions for industrial automation

Bluetooth 5 introduced the optional CodedPHY feature, which drastically improves the link budget by up to 12dBm without increasing the output power of the transmitter. This can either be used to extend the communication distance by a factor of four or to make short range communication in harsh industrial environments more robust. Toshiba’s SoCs with market leading high link budget and Panasonic’s high quality, pre-certified industrial modules form an ideal synergy to address the demanding requirements of industrial automation applications.

At Access IoT, Saleem will talk about the KW41Z, a 2.4 GHz Dual Mode: Bluetooth® Low Energy and 802.15.4 Wireless Radio Microcontroller (MCU) based on Arm®Cortex®-M0+ Core. He will also showcase a demo application introducing the dual mode operation (BLE and ZCLIP) of the KW41Z.

Jorgen has been working as an Application Engineer in the Technical Support department of Nordic for last 3 years. His main responsibilities are to provide software support to customers on short range 2.4 GHz protocols (including Bluetooth, Thread, Zigbee, and Bluetooth Mesh), and long range cellular IoT protocols (including LTE-M and NB-IoT), in addition to attending trade shows and trainings arranged by Nordic.

Mesh networks are often used in IoT applications to connect sensors to gateways or hubs. This talk will compare three popular mesh technologies and demonstrate how customers can future proof their products by using Nordic Semiconductor’s innovative multi-protocol nRF52840 SoC to provide a technology agnostic platform to run a mesh network while providing Bluetooth 5 connectivity to a mobile phone.
